Zach Johnson Odds - USA Ryder Cup Team 2014

Zac JohnsonZach Johnson shot to stardom in 2007 after he won the US Masters at Augusta. It was quite a remarkable victory as he has only joined the US PGA 2003 and was a relative unknown. He has gone through a quiet patch since that win but has come into form at just the right time over the past few months. He had a great tournament at the USPGA at Whistling Straits recently and it earned him a wild card pick from Corey Pavin for the 2010 USA Ryder Cup Team.

He actually turned Professional in 1998 and played for 5 years on the Nationwide Tour, before earning promotion to the PGA. He took up golf at the age of 10 and led his school side of 1992 to the State Championship.

In his victory speech when winning the Masters, Johnson said that he was never the best player in the school team but that he had “just kept on getting better and better”. His win in the Masters was the first by any player outside the top 50 in golf since ranking began and he won it with a score of 289, one over par. The score tied for the highest ever winning score in Masters history. His victory saw him leave Tiger Woods , Retief Goosen and Rory Sabbattini in his wake.

The Masters was his first Major Title and it added to his two previous Tour titles, that had the year before earned him a Ryder Cup place. He played 4 matches in the 2006 Ryder Cup Match match in Ireland, winning only one fourball.
