Miguel Angel JiminezMiguel Angel Jimenez, known as the ‘Mechanic’ to his friends, due to his love of cars, particularly his Ferrari but he is pretty handy on the golf course. He first played on the European Tour in 1988 and improved consistently until finally winning an event, the Belgian Open in 1992. He has been a hot and cold type player. In 1994 he came 5th in the European Tour Order of Merit and bettered this in both 1998 and 1999, when winning four Tournaments, including the Volvo Masters. In 1999 he was runner-up in the WGC American Express Championship and in 2000 was runner-up in the US Open. He made his Ryder Cup debut in 1999 and 2010 will be his fourth appearance in the team event so brings plenty of experience to the team.

He had his best performance in the British Open in 2001 tying for third spot and has also played very well over the years at the US Masters in Augusta. He has never managed to win one of the big ones but he does have an excellent 17 wins on the European Tour to his name. He has been in great form in 2010 with two wins to his name in Dubai in February and in France in July, those wins and some good finishes meant he qualified for the European Ryder Cup team automatically.

Jimenez made every effort to make the team by right this year with the chances being that Celtic Manor will be his last Ryder Cup, the Spaniard is a team man and has a solid if unspectacular record in his three previous appearances. Jimenez is a solid bet in the Top European Player Betting market at the moment, he is not a a big star name but his experience and ability to play under pressure should not be ignored.

He has continued his great form ahead of the Ryder Cup with a hugely impressive win in the European Masters, the Spaniard put together four great rounds to win from fellow team member Edoardo Molinari. Jimenez now has three wins this year and is in the form of his life heading into the Ryder Cup to give Colin Montgomerie a huge boost.
