Matt Kuchar - USA Ryder Cup Team 2010

In Matt Kuchar Corey Pavin has yet another rookie on his 2010 Ryder Cup team, he will not mind one bit though with Kuchar proving himself as one of the most consistent players on the tour so far in 2010. He will be making his first appearance in the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor but he has won a couple of tournaments on the PGA Tour so is clearly a talented player.

Kuchar is yet to win a tournament in 2010 but has secured his place on the American team with a succession of top 10 finishes in tournaments, indeed he has had more top 10 finishes this season than any other player on the tour to date. He did claim a PGA Tour win last season with a victory in the Turning Stone Resort Championship, that victory seems to have relaunched his career and he has not looked back in 2010.

It will be interesting to see how Kuchar will be used by Corey Pavin at Celtic manor this year, on paper he is not the biggest name in the team so he will be under pressure to perform. He is in form though and that does count for a lot in the Ryder Cup, will Pavin look to get him out early on Day 1 in the fourballs or foursomes to build his confidence or will he make him wait until Day 2 or even until the Singles before he makes his entrance.

How much Kuchar plays at Celtic Manor will of course have a big bearing on his betting in the Top American Points Scorer market, it has been know that a rookie has performed well in the Ryder up as Anthony Kim did in Valhalla in 2008. If he can get off to a good start and build his confidence there is no reason to believe Kuchar is not capable of playing well throughout the three days. He will though be one of the American players with longer odds in this market and that is understandable, but he may just prove to be a nice bit of value for Golf punters at Celtic Manor if he can start well.
