Luke Donald - Ryder Cup Team Europe

Luke DonaldLuke Donald originates from Hertfordshire and turned professional in 2001. He played initially on the USPGA Tour and in 2002 he won the rain-shortened Southern Farm Bureau Classic, making him only the 11th ‘Rookie’ in USPGA Tour history to earn more than $1 million in his first season.

In Europe in 2004 he won the Omega European Masters and the Scandinavian Masters.He capped a great year by being a member of the victorious Ryder Cup Team as well as the winning the WGC World Cup for England with partner, Paul Casey.

By early 2005 he was in the top twenty of the Official World Golf Rankings and his win in the 2006 Honda Classic moved him into the top ten for the first time. Soon afterwards he moved up to ninth and in January 2007 he moved up to seventh in the world. A run of bad form however saw Luke slip down the rankings, but he has recovered a litle and folowing his excellent tied third position in the European PGA, he moved into the 17th ranked position in the world. He has earned over a staggering 11 million dollars since turning Professional.

Luke, Along with Tom Watson, had the honour to play with Jack Nicklaus in Jack’s final two rounds of the British Open in 2005 at St Andrews. Donald was a a bit of a star in the 2006 Ryder Cup, he won his singles match against Chad Campbell and won both his foursomes matches in partnership with Sergio Garcia.
