Jim Furyk - USA Ryder Cup Team 2012

Jim FurykJim Furyk was handed a wild card spot by captain Davis Love III and the legendary golfer will be a major part of USA Ryder Cup bid at the Medinah Country Club at the end of September.  A solid performer, it was understandable that Love elected to choose him as a wild card and having already played in seven Ryder Cups before will bring a wealth of experience to the team.

Jim Furyk was always destined to be a golfer, even though he started his sporting life as a keen Basketball Player. His father Mike, however was a local Club Professional and it was him who first put a club in Jim’s hands. By the time Jim had left High School, he was already the State Golfing Champion and he has never looked back. Jim has been all the rage this week in the Top American Points Scorer Betting after he picked up the 2010 Fedex Cup at the weekend. By winning the Tour Championship in Atlanta he also picked up the Fedex Trophy and is bang in form ahead of Friday.

He actually turned professional in 1992 and competed on what was known then as the Nike Tour. He won his first Professional Tournament a year later and as a consequence qualified for the full USPGA Tour.

Jim has been remarkably consistent and won at least one Tournament a year, between 1995 and 2003. He is a regular in the World’s top ten player rankings and in 2006 was ranked second only to Tiger Woods. He has won over 20 Golfing Tournaments worldwide, but his biggest success to date came when he won the US Open Golf Championship in 2003, it was his first Major, but maybe not his last as he heads to play in his 8th consecutive Ryder Cup at Medinah.

In the 2006 Ryder Cup, The American Captain, Tom Lehman, paired Jim with Tiger Woods in all the foursome and fourball matches, where they came out even, winning two and losing two. It’s highly possible that they may repeat that this year.

This should be an interesting point to note when considering any Ryder Cup betting and he will be well backed in all markets at Medinah, he is perhaps the most consistent players on the tour and will no doubt take that form to Medinah. He very rarely is out of contention which menas he will be an integral part of Davis Love III's team and could form the backbone of their team as he has been for several years now.
