Henrik Stenson - Ryder Cup Team Europe

Henrik StensonHenrik Stenson turned professional in 1999 and the following year topped the money rankings on the Challenge Tour. He joined the main European Tour the following year and thus far has won six European Tour events. Since 2005 he has finished in the top ten every year.

Henrik made the top 20 of the World Rankings in 2006 and then reached a position of 8th in the World a year later, following his win in the Dubai Desert Classic. At that time Henrik was the highest placed European. He sits currently at number 14.

Immediately after his Dubai victory, Henrik won the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship, beating Aussie, Geoff Ogilvy in the final 2&1. This highly impressive win took Henrik to a career high of 5th in the World Rankings and to the top of the European Order of Merit. His 5th place in the rankings is the highest position any Swedish golfer has ever reached.

He made his Ryder Cup debut in 2006 and played three matches, winning his singles, halving his foursome and losing in his fourball. He has yet to make his mark in the Major Tournaments, but he has finished creditably in each of them at some time: 17th in both the 2007 and 2008 US Masters, 26th in the US Open in 2006, 34th in the British open in 2005 and was 14th in US PGA in 2006.
