Dustin Johnson - USA Ryder Cup Team 2012

Dustin Johnson will be an integral member of the 2012 USA Ryder Cup Team at Medinah after he was handed a wild card spot by captain Davis Love III.  He made his debut in the Ryder Cup in 2010 and the American has been in good form this season and will be confident of playing well for the team when he arrives in Chicago. He has three PGA Tour wins to his name with one in each of the last three years so knows how to play well under pressure, he has also come close to winning a Major without quite getting over the line in 2010.

Ryder Cup 2012 Outright Win Odds

At the US Open back in June, Johnson had a three shot lead on the field going into the final round but quickly dropped back after a disastrous start, in the end he went round in an astonishing 82. That will be a slight worry for the Americans and his backers at Celtic Manor as he clearly wilted under the pressure of a Major victory. He went even closer at the USPGA Championship recently, he was on the 18th at Whistling Straits with a one shot lead but contrived to hit a poor tee shot and claimed a bogie. To add to his woes he missed out on a play-off place after he was docked two shots for grounding his ball in the sand on the last hole.

It will be interesting to see how he bounces back from that disapointment at Whistling Straits, he will be under intense pressure in the Ryder Cup and he will have to prove he can handle the big stage. He certainly has the game to play ell in a team environment, he has a huge drive which will stand him in good stead, if he performs well then he has every chance of being the star of the team so his odds to be the Top American Points Scorer should be looked at carefully.

His confidence ahead of the Ryder Cup has been given a huge boost with his won in the BMW Championship and he now looks to be a big player for the US Team, he won well in the Fedex Cup tournament and few would be surprised to see him make a good start to his Ryder Cup career.
