Bubba Watson - USA Ryder Cup Team 2010

It has been a big breakthrough year for Bubba Watson on the PGA Tour and as a result will be making his Ryder Cup debut at Celtic Manor, Corey Pavin will be pleased to have the left-hander on his team and he seems to have the right temperament to play well under pressure. He has been pro since 2003 and has been slow to make a big impact on the game, he is known for his huge rive and once recorded a mammoth 410 yard tee shot at the Sony Open earlier this year.

He has been in great form in recent months with the highlight coming at the Travelers Championship, to win that tournament he beat none other than Corey Pavin in a play-off so the USA Captain will have had a close up look at the Rookie. Since that victory he really has been in fine fettle and he went very close to picking up his first Major Championship at Whistling Straits. In the end he lost out in a play-off to Martin Kaymer of Germany but he proved that day that he can play under pressure and that should stand him in good stead for the Ryder Cup.

It is rare for a Ryder Cup Rookie to be leading the team but punters can of course have a bet on Bubba Watson being the Top American Points Scorer at Celtic Manor. He is the sort of attacking player that if he gets it right he could be something special, his length off the tee will make him a valuable asset in the foursomes and fourball matches while he should enjoy playing singles at the same time. He does lack experience at this level but he is used to winning and being in contention at big tournaments now so will no doubt be looking forward to Celtic Manor.
