Brandt Snedeker - USA Ryder Cup Team
Brandt Snedeker won the US Amateur Public Links title in 2003 before turning Professional and playing on the Nationwide Tour. He won several Tournaments on that tour and finished in the top ten, thus earning a place on the full PGA Tour for 2007.
He got off to a great start on the PGA Tour, he shot an incrdible 61 in the first round of the Buick International, although he never won the Title, his round made big news. He actually finished in third place. He then went on to make 8 consecutive cuts, making three top 25 finishes. He excelled again in the prestigious Players Championship ( The 5th Major), tying for 12th place. This result put him in even better shape, as he went from strength to strength throughout 2007. He was 5th in the Stanford St Judes, then tied 23rd in the US Open a week later. His next result,10th in the Buick Open put him in the top hundred players in the world. A 7th spot followed in the Canadian Open and then an impressive 18th place in the US PGA.
Snedeker was clearly ‘knocking on the winners door,’ and it wasn’t long in coming either. The very next week he finally got his first winners cheque, when winning the Wyndham Championship. Later in the year he performed admirally in the Fed Ex, finishing 20th. His efforts were rewarded by the USPGA who awarded him with ‘Rookie’ of the Year.
He has continued to impress in 2008 too, his third place in this year’s Masters at Augusta was his best ever performance and launched him up to 32nd in the World Rankings. He too will be making his Ryder Cup debut.
