Boo Weekly - USA Ryder Cup Team

Boo WeeklyBoo Weekly is different to most golfers, he once said when asked about Ryder Cup selection "If they invite me to come to play, I'll play," he said. "But no, I don't know a whole lot about it. I've seen some clips of it. I think Justin Leonard made a putt or something. That's about the only thing I remember of the Ryder Cup stuff." Its not that he isn’t ambitious, he is just so laid back and remains relaxed despite his huge golfing improvement in the last 2 years. He openly admits that he misses his family and his friends and if he could he would rather go fishing then earn a living playing golf.

He turned Professional in 1997, but played on minor Tours until 2002,when he finally qualified for the PGA Tour. He had a poor start and lost his card after only making five cuts in 24 Tournaments. He then played on the Nationwide Tour until 2006, when once again his performances earned him a second PGA card.

His first PGA victory came the following year when he won the Verizon Heritage, which he successfully defended earlier this year for his 2nd PGA Title. He also had two top ten finishes in 2007, which saw his World ranking shoot up to the top 50. He represented USA that year too, in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup, and, with partner Heath Slocum, came a very creditable 2nd.

His win this year at the Verizon saw him rise to 24th in the world and he has, over the last two years become a major player in the world. He was 9th in the US Open last year and finished 20th in this year’s Masters, so despite his desire to fish rather than golf, Boo Weekly is a man to be reckoned and will be a big influence when he makes his Ryder Cup debut.
